Selling historical daggers
Edged weapons are our focus, especially foreign daggers. Here is how to get a well-founded appraisal without letting your piece out of your hands.

In shortPhotograph the dagger with and without scabbard, the blade from both sides and the maker mark. Do not polish or sharpen. We appraise free of charge, review legally and can buy directly.

What matters with daggers
- Originality
- Do blade, grip and scabbard belong together?
- Maker
- Maker mark at the base of the blade
- Blade
- Polish, etching, point, rust
- Fittings
- Grip, pommel, crossguard and scabbard
- Accessories
- Hanger, sword knot, tassel
Please do not polish
Many owners want to “tidy up” a piece before selling. With edged weapons this almost always does harm: polishing removes patina and fine etching, grinding alters the blade, and new grips or scabbards reduce originality. Leave the piece as it is.
Foreign daggers
In addition to German pieces, we explicitly buy foreign daggers and edged weapons. Send us photos even if you do not know the origin or model.
Shipping and legal review
Only ship blades after we agree, well protected in a sturdy box. Before purchase we also review every item legally under § 86 and § 86a of the German Criminal Code.

Frequently asked questions
Do you buy daggers without a scabbard?
Yes. An original scabbard increases the value, but we look at single daggers too.
My dagger has rust. Should I remove it?
No. Please photograph it as it is. Improper cleaning does more harm than light surface rust.
Do you also buy sabres and bayonets?
Yes. See Daggers & sabres and Bayonets.
Can I hand over the dagger in person?
Yes, by appointment at our premises in Berlin.
